Engine & Gearbox

The 57 foot Collingwood Shearwater 2 is fitted with a Canaline 38 Marine Diesel engine as standard. This is a four cylinder, 38 bhp engine that is fitted with a PRM 125 mechanical marine gearbox. It is also installed with two alternators. One 75 Amp (to charge the engine battery) and one 100 Amp (to charge the domestic batteries).

The engine will heat hot water stored in the Calorfier (hot water tank). The connectors are fitted below the thermostat to ensure the hot water warms up first.

To ensure easy servicing, a sump pump is fitted to the engine as standard. This is because it is impossible to let gravity drain the oil when it needs to be changed. Also, all service points are on one side of the engine with easy access points for daily checks and servicing.
